You’ve mastered the basics. You can stand up, sail out, and turn around. But now you want more. You want to be faster, smoother, and more efficient.
If you feel “stuck” at the same level, this Improver Coaching Day is the breakthrough you need.
Unlike standard lessons fixed at one location, we go where the wind is. We monitor the forecast across Central Switzerland (Sihlsee, Urnersee, Sempachersee, etc.) and confirm the location 24-48 hours in advance to give you the best possible conditions.
Is This Course for You?
This session is designed for “Intermediates” and “Improvers.”
- You can sail out and return to the same spot (stay upwind).
- You have completed a beginner course or have equivalent experience.
- You want to refine your tacking, learn to gybe, or get your first taste of planing.

What We Will Cover
We move beyond the basics of “survival” and focus on efficiency and style.
- The secret to Stance: How to position your body to waste less energy.
- Steering with Vision: Improving your tacks and gybes by looking in the right place.
- Intro to Harness & Footstraps: If conditions allow, we take the first steps towards sailing “hooked in.”
- Rigging Tuning: Learn how to set up your sail correctly for different wind strengths.
Your Coach: The Science of Sailing
You will be coached by Dave, a veteran windsurfer with over 35 years of windsurf coaching experience.
- Expert Eye: As a former RYA Senior Instructor and Level 5 Coach, Dave can spot the one small mistake in your posture that is holding you back.
- Biomechanics Approach: Using his Sports Science background, Dave explains why the board reacts the way it does, helping you adjust your leverage and balance scientifically rather than just “trying harder.”
Logistics & Equipment
- Location: Confirmed 24-48 hours prior (e.g., Sihlsee, Sempachersee, Zugersee).
- Gear: We provide modern, wide-style boards and rigs suitable for progression. (Wetsuits and buoyancy aids included).
- Transport: We can often arrange carpooling to the chosen spot.

Common Questions
Q: Can I bring my own gear?
A: Yes! If you have your own board and rig, you are welcome to use it. Dave can even help you tune it properly. (Please note the price remains the same as the value is in the coaching).
Q: What if there is no wind?
A: We specifically choose the location to maximise our chances. However, if the forecast is completely flat across the region, we will reschedule. We want you to have a productive day, not just float around!
Q: Will we be planing (sailing fast)?
A: That is the goal! If the wind allows, we will work on the techniques needed to get the board skimming across the water.
Q: Do I need to know how to beach start?
A: No, we will cover intermediate starting techniques as part of the session if the location suits it.
Insurance is the responsibility of the participant, by RSVPing “yes” you agree to act responsibly at all times on this event and to not hold Swiss Alpine Adventure/All Winds Adventures/Windsurfing and other Watersports or any person involved responsible for any injury or loss which may occur in relation to the event.
We also encourage participants to have cancellation insurance in case they can not attend events at the last minute due to illness, injury or any other reasons. We cannot give refunds for cancellations within the last 30 days before the event starts.
